General Packaging Guidelines
Whether you pack it yourself or have us pack it for you... Pearland POSTAL PLUS sells everything you need, including boxes, mailing envelopes, MAILING tubes, padded envelopes, bubblewrap, peanuts/polyfill, tape and all other packing supplies.
If you are a do-it-yourself packer, use these tips to ensure safe travel (and arrival) of your important packages. REMINDER: PARCELS WITH INSURANCE MUST MEET CARRIER GUIDELINES TO ENSURE INSURANCE COVERAGE. In some cases, more packaging might be needed. If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to ask us for help.
Make sure your box is large enough to add sufficient packaging around ALL sides of the item(s). 2 - 5" depending on the weight and fragility of the item to be shipped. Items containing glass and/or electronic components such as computers and gaming systems may need to be double boxed for safety and/or proper insurance coverage.
Use a sturdy box with flaps. Our boxes are between 200 lb - 275 lb 'Bursting Test".
Bubblewrap and cushion all breakable, fragile or glass items.
Use enough cushioning between items (bubblewrap or peanuts) to ensure the items do not shift when you shake the box. Bubblewrap and polyfill are used to absorb shock and vibration during transit. Newspaper, clothing, blankets and pillows are NOT proper cushioning materials.
Cover sharp or protruding edges with taped corragated panels or thick pads.
Parcel must be able to withstand a 4-foot drop.
Use strong tape that is designed for shipping.
Don't pack heavy items with delicate items.
If you do not feel that a parcel is properly prepared for shipping, ask us for assistance.
..we will be happy to help you! If a parcel is not packed properly, the carrier can refuse to honor a damge claim.
These are just general packaging guidelines. if you need to package an item and require advice, please ask us for assistance.
ALL PARCELS WE PACKAGE MEET OUR CARRIER'S PACKAGING GUIDELINES.
